27th February

Today’s session felt like stepping into the shoes of a wildlife veterinary detective.

Our group was presented with a case of a leopard carcass that appeared to be a victim of poaching.

Armed with a sampling kit, we thoroughly and meticulously examined the environment of the crime scene, the remains, and took samples for further analysis. The experience was thrilling!

As we did our investigation, we had a curious chameleon perched on a tree branch, watching our every move.

If only he could speak and give us his opinion on the leopard’s fate!

Overall, the experience taught us the harsh reality of poaching and how science and conservation go hand in hand.
